Par 3 and Executive Golf Association Charter Kickoff Event Scheduled in Bermuda on March 25, 2011
The Par 3 and Executive Golf Association Charter Kickoff Event will be held at the Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda on March 25, 2011. Optionally, members are invited to play in the 2011 Bacardi National Par-3 Championship being held the same weekend.
Lakewood, CA, January 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Par 3 and Executive Golf Association is being created in 2011 to provide a forum for Par 3, Pitch & Putt, and Executive Golf Course owners, managers, superintendents, architects, instructors, and players to communicate with each other to further promote their golf courses and the short game of golf. The agenda will include networking ideas and identifying a short course trail with sponsored tournaments throughout the year.
Par3-executive-golf.com was founded in 2003 by Diana Greenawalt. “I’ve always loved the game of golf, but I thought the smaller courses should get more attention,” said Diana. “Our website is dedicated to those golf courses designed as Par 3 or Executive sized courses. We include golf course listings with interactive state and county maps in the US, Canada, and several other countries worldwide. The site continues to be a work in progress. As the association develops, we will be adding member benefits to include an online forum for member discussions and anything else we can do to help with our members’ success.”
The shorter golf courses play much faster and are generally less expensive than the regulation sized courses. They are great for beginners, juniors, golfers with limited time, golfers with limited energy, and golfers who just want to work on the very important short part of the game. These courses are just as well kept and beautiful to play as their larger counterparts. They are not in competition with each other, but rather complementary to each other.
The Par 3 golf courses usually have 9 or 18 par 3 holes ranging anywhere from 100 yards to 250 yards in length. The even shorter Pitch and Putt courses usually have 9 or 18 holes less than 100 yards in length. Only 3 clubs are allowed on the Pitch and Putt courses, one of which is a putter. Par play is 27 for 9 holes or 54 for 18 holes on the Par 3 and Pitch & Putt golf courses.
The executive sized golf courses will have some par 4 holes and possibly a par 5 hole, but most holes will be par 3. The executive sized courses are much shorter, usually less than 2,600 yards for a 9 hole course and less than 5,200 yards for an 18 hole course. Par on these courses will usually be 28-32 for the 9 hole courses and 55 to 65 on the 18 hole courses. In comparison, the regulation sized courses average a par of 72 for 18 holes.
The Par 3 and Executive Golf Association TM is accepting members at this time. Anyone interested in promoting the short game of golf is eligible to join. The initial kickoff event is open to the public. Please visit www.par3-executive-golf.com for more information.
