Peoria’s Blu Agave Arizona Kitchen Has Big Plans for NFL’s Biggest Game

The Peoria restaurant is staging a patio party complete with a Sunday afternoon feast worthy of the season’s biggest game.
Chef Charles Schwerd’s special bar menu will be on display for the big game, with everything from grilled chicken tortas and green chile cheeseburgers to carne asada tacos and quesadillas available for football fans.
On the drink side, Blu Agave will be offering $2 Tecates, $3 house margaritas, $4 Sangria and well drinks, $5 Bulldog Margaritas and house wine, $6 specialty margaritas and buckets of Coronitas for only $7.
“We’re planning on having a lot of fun, watching the game on our seven big-screen televisions and enjoying some great food out on our patio,” said Managing Partner Christina Ricke.
Schwerd, who crafted the Blu Agave menu to reflect the flavors and tastes of the Arizona cuisine he’s enjoyed all his life, said he’s looking forward to this year’s game, which pits the Green Bay Packers against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game kicks off at 4:30 p.m.
“Events like this are what the Blu Agave experience is all about,” he said. “And watching the NFL’s biggest game with friends on the Blu Agave patio will be a memorable experience.”
Schwerd, who also owns Arrowhead Grill in Glendale, has spent the past two decades carving out a reputation as one of the Valley’s finest chefs at restaurants such as Scottsdale’s Mastro’s Steakhouse, Mastro’s Ocean Club and Drinkwater’s City Hall Steakhouse as well as John Elway’s Steakhouse in Denver, Colo.
