Lace Up to Help Local Kids

Hanford, CA, March 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hanford race will benefit Golden State Family Services

Runners will have a chance to get active and give back to the community next month in the first annual Hanford Run for the Peeps.

The race will be held Saturday, April 23 at the Civic Auditorium. The Hanford Chamber of Commerce will be co-hosting the Hanford Run for the Peeps, which will host a 5K, 10K and One Mile Kids Fun Run.

Proceeds will benefit Golden State Family Services, an organization that administers assistance for children in foster care within the Hanford area.

Christy Gomes, Hanford Run for the Peeps coordinator, has noticed a growing trend in runners in the area and is looking forward to the event.

“I’ve already received an overwhelming response,” says Gomes, “I am excited to coordinate a race that would give back to the community.”

The Hanford Run for the Peeps is the second race to come to town this year. In February, Hanford hosted its first half-marathon which drew over 400 participants.

Gomes said that she believes this race will increase awareness of children in need in the local community.

“This race provides an opportunity for participants to promote an active lifestyle, enjoy a day with family and friends and support local organizations.”
