Mesa, AZ, May 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Through a collaborative partnership with California University of Pennsylvania (CalU), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) is proud to once again offer the Pursuit of Excellence Award and are seeking two qualified candidates for the July 2011 start date. Since the award was created in 2005, over $200,000 has been awarded towards tuition grants.

Recipients of this one-of-a-kind award (100% online) receive full tuition funding (valued at over $15,000) to be applied toward a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion at CalU – in one of four specific tracks:
· Fitness and Wellness
· Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention
· Rehabilitation Science
· Sports Psychology

NASM supports the continued development of the health, fitness, athletic performance and sports medicine industry through various higher education initiatives. Since 2005, the bi-annual Pursuit of Excellence in Health and Fitness program has provided busy health and fitness professionals with an array of opportunities to advance their careers through online graduate and undergraduate degree programs.

“NASM is pleased to offer this great opportunity to two qualified recipients two times each year,” said NASM CEO Dr. Mike Clark. “With changes in healthcare and the continued escalation of adult and child obesity, these graduates will be equipped to deliver individualized, goal-specific, safe and effective exercise programs.”

The criteria for candidates applying for the Pursuit of Excellence include a bachelor’s degree; an overall GPA of at least 3.0 for all undergraduate and graduate courses to date; plan to enroll in a master’s degree program track at the CalU, which offers the entire curriculum online; and intent to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry. Applications are being accepted and are due June 1, 2011.

“With our convenient online graduate degree both recipients, no matter where they are in the world, will be able to complete their selected educational tracks while continuing to work and balance their personal lives,” said Dr. Barry McGlumphy, Program Chair and Professor for Exercise Science and Health Promotion at CalU.

International candidates are encouraged to apply. For more information, please visit NASM.org.
