North Shore Fitness Company Introduces Unique Obstacle Race to Benefit Salem High School Students
Salem, MA, May 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- B&S Fitness (http://www.bnsfitness.com/) the largest provider of fitness programs on the North Shore of Boston announces a unique 5K obstacle race called “The Xtreme Urban Run.” This new event involves participants climbing over, under, or through school buses, fences, walls, tires, and even dodging shopping carts and water balloons. Competitors can run individually or as teams of four people. Designed for athletes looking to challenge themselves and compete in a fun and unique environment, this event is not a standard 5K run. Participants will race in heats of fifty to seventy five people with each wave starting at fifteen-minute intervals. The race will be held on June 5, 2011 at 9 a.m. at the Willows in Salem, MA.
According to Brandi Dion, President of B&S Fitness, “We created The Xtreme Urban Run for people who are athletic—or simply adventurous—and are looking for something different.” The event will benefit two causes: It Starts With Me, a Salem-based non-profit organization that is assisting the The Bridge Academy, operated through Salem High School, which helps students at risk of dropping out of school to stay motivated and on track to graduate. The event will also support the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem. Dion continues, “A generous portion of the event proceeds will support these two organizations which are so vital to our community.”
In addition to running for a worthwhile cause, the first 500 competitors will receive an Xtreme Urban Run Tech Shirt. There will be a post-race barbeque for all competitors and spectators for a small additional fee. During and after the event, there will be music provided by Lanie Mac Music and fitness tests conducted by the National Guard. The Title Sponsor is Community Credit Union and supporting sponsors include: DWMMA, Tache Real Estate, Lichelle Aldana Dentistry, In a Pig’s Eye, Baldor Foods, B&S Sport Science, Howling Wolf Taqueria, and North Shore Boot Camp Company. Awards will be provided to top racers. To sign up or learn more about The Xtreme Urban Run, please go to: http://www.bnsfitness.com/events/UrbanXtreme.htm.
