Simi Valley, CA, June 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Free Clinic of Simi Valley announces the Community Health & Fitness Expo, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 as one of the nonprofit organization’s largest community service endeavors ever. The major fund-raiser features a unique partnership with Simi Valley Hospital and Kaiser Permanente to deliver as many health care resources as possible for the community in a single event.
The Community Health & Fitness Expo is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 at Simi Valley Town Center. Admission is free for the general public. Sponsors and vendors are now being sought.
To kick off the event, the Clinic announces its “100 from 100” promotion – asking for $100 donations from 100 individuals and businesses within the community to support the Clinic and the Expo during this year’s 40th anniversary celebration.
“What better way to celebrate our 40th year of service to the community than to partner with health care providers and offer tangible benefits to residents that they can take with them to live healthier and happier lives,” said Fred Bauermeister, Executive Director for the Free Clinic of Simi Valley.
“The Expo will be unlike other health fairs in the region. Our aim is to present demonstrations, guest speakers and more so visitors leave truly feeling equipped to get healthy and fit,” Bauermeister said. “Local community members can get involved early with $100 donations, hopefully from 100 different individuals and businesses. And we are actively seeking major sponsors and vendors for the event.”
Donors of $100 to the “100 from 100” promotion will be included in promotional materials including advertisements leading right up to the Expo. To contribute, write a $100 check to the Free Clinic of Simi Valley, with “100 from 100” in the memo line, and mail it to the Clinic at 2060 Tapo Street, Simi Valley, Calif. 93063. Donations to the Free Clinic are tax-deductible.
The Community Health & Fitness Expo will feature dozens of vendors presenting their services or offering health or fitness related demonstrations; children’s activities; special guest speakers; and more. Vendors may include clinical professionals, bicycle shops, recreation and sporting goods stores, markets, nutrition and vitamin centers, and other organizations.
Demonstrations can cover healthy cooking; nutritional eating; medical topics; CPR/first aid; tobacco use; poison control; insect and snake bites; skin cancer; traffic, bicycle and pedestrian safety; car seats; drinking and driving; and fire prevention.
Special children’s activities and guest speakers also are planned. For more information about the Expo, visit http://communityhealthandfitnessexpo.com, or follow on Twitter @SimiHealthExpo.
Founded March 1, 1971, the Free Clinic has offered nonsurgical medical care, legal assistance, and individual and family counseling to 70,000 adults and children living in Simi Valley, Moorpark, and surrounding communities. In 2005, the clinic opened a fourth service-a five-chair dental clinic, the first in eastern Ventura County.
The Clinic is the only nonprofit organization in Ventura County that offers four critical, professional services, and is one of few such institutions in the State of California. Information: http://www.freeclinicsv.com
