Gospel's Grace Christian Event Management Donates Management Services to The 5th Annual Kommunity Festival, Promoting Mrs. Obama’s Let's Move Campaign
The 5th Annual Kommunity Festival on the National Mall Sponsors a Let’s Move Dougie Dance Contest. The Kommunity Festival Features Sport Events, Christian Music, Plays, and a Tribute to Veterans.
Washington, DC, June 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated the one year anniversary of her Let’s Move campaign at North Point Community Church in Atlanta, GA on February 9, 2011. The non-denominational church was filled with parents challenged with raising healthy children in a culture shaped by fast food and video games. Childhood obesity rates in America have tripled over the last three decades, and these committed parents, led by Mrs. Obama, are doing something about it. Atlanta, dubbed Playful City USA, was the right city, a faith-based gathering was the right crowd, and gospel music set the right tone.
On July 9th and 10th, 2011, The 5th Annual Kommunity Festival, held at the Sylvan Theater on the National Mall in Washington, DC, will serve as a Let’s Move Meet-up site. The Kommunity Festival will provide children and youth an opportunity to showcase their talents on the National Mall before a world audience, promoting self esteem, health, and excellence through boxing exhibitions, dancing, and musical performances. Local Christian and gospel artists will perform in five concerts over this two day event. Washington, DC, the First Lady’s adopted home, will host healthy activities for our children in a faith-based setting as gospel music fills the air.
Dancing is a fun way to exercise and fight childhood obesity. To encourage children to get moving, The 5th Annual Kommunity Festival on the National Mall is sponsoring a Dougie Dance contest. Finalists will compete for prizes for the best Dougie dancers in the Children (ages 6 - 12) and Teen (ages 13 - 18) categories on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Kommunity Festival.
The 5th Annual Kommunity Festival has something for everyone! Residents and visitors in the Washington, DC area are invited to come out to the National Mall, 15th Street and Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20024, on July 9, 2011 and July 10, 2011 to attend these great events.
