Greenwich, CT, July 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Nadine Cartwright-Lowe, MD, an internal medicine physician, has opened her health education and health coaching practice at Pinnacle Educational Center. Health educators teach, motivate, educate and navigate. (1) They help develop self-management skills needed to improve your health. (2) They help clarify health goals. (3) They use evidence-based health education strategies. (4) They implement and sustain healthy behaviors, lifestyles and attitudes. (5) They collaborate with you to address health concerns. (6) They help you guide and navigate your personal health goals. (7) They help you navigate the health care system with your primary care physician and or specialist.
"I am very excited to have Dr. Cartwright-Lowe join our team, and build our health education and coaching practice," said Dr. Paul Lowe, CEO and president of Pinnacle Educational Center. "Health education is the profession of educating people about their health and well-being. It is a method in which one promotes health and the quality of health through education. An internal medicine physician who understands the holistic and balanced approach to health care, well-being, fitness and nutrition is very important to those individuals who choose to be proactive in maintaining optimum health."
Much of the health education and health coaching she provides, Dr. Cartwright-Lowe says, is based on her preventive and primary care clinical experiences as an internist. "I like to educate people about their personal health. Health education and health coaching empowers people and provides them with the knowledge to stay healthy and feel well. It also helps them to communicate effectively with their doctors and successfully navigate the health care system," said Dr. Cartwright-Lowe.
Dr. Cartwright-Lowe received a B.A. in biology and minored in philosophy from Brown University and a M.D. from Brown University Medical School. She participated in clinical research in bio-mechanics and orthopedics at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and completed specialty training in internal medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center/Yale University School of Medicine. She has also served as a board member of the Brown Medical Alumni Association.
