Mississauga, Canada, January 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Bayshore Home Health, one of Canada’s leading providers of home and community health care services, is working with March of Dimes Canada to present Living with a Disability. The two organizations are hosting the event in Markham on Thursday, March 1, 2012, to help those living with disability become more independent and gain better access to community resources.
“It’s important to bring organizations together to empower people with disabilities,” says Jackie Hickey, community health advisor for Bayshore Home Health and a presenter at the event. “It’s our goal to educate, inspire and provide information that encourages those in attendance to reach higher.”
Presenters at Living with a Disability will offer key strategies for preventing falls, tips for one-person meal preparation, and information about programs and services available through March of Dimes Canada.
“We hope participants will leave this event knowing more about the community resources available to them,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, director of fund development and communications at March of Dimes Canada. “Ultimately we want them to live more independently, be more mobile and have ownership over their day-to-day lives.”
Living with a Disability is a free half-day community event designed for people of all ages. This event is especially beneficial to those who have recently developed a disability and want more information. Whether wheelchair-bound, legally blind, recovering from a stroke, car accident or other serious injury, this half-day event will get people out of the house and into the community and, most importantly, inspire them to find and reach their full potential.
