Island Coast High Girls’ Basketball Team Win Third Place in Video Contest
The videos were posted to Running Funky’s facebook page; winners were based solely on the number of “likes” the video received.
Cape Coral, FL, March 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Island Coast High School’s Girls Basketball team entered a video contest sponsored by Running Funky, a woman-owned, Florida-based, clothing company specializing in unique designs in spandex shorts, capris, chorties and tights for teams and runners. Teams had a month to create a video explaining why their team was most deserving of matching tights for the team.
The video was posted to Running Funky’s facebook page; winners were based solely on the number of “likes” the video received.
Island Coast was in the lead for two weeks, but a last minute run by two competitors: Star Gymnastics in Colorado and Wilmington Area Cross Country. 484 “Likes” earned Star the win and Wilmington second place.
Coached by Jerry Ellis, the girls say they had a great time making the video. The team will get Running Funky t-shirts with the team name imprinted on the back.
“This is the first time we’ve extended our social marketing efforts directly to students, and we were blown away by the creativity and quality of the videos. You can watch them yourself on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Runningfunky/videos or our YouTube channel , RunningFunky1,” said Running Funky President and owner Julie Rock.
“These girls represent what team sports are all about,” said Coach Jerry Ellis. “This season, the team held a Dribble-Dish & Swish community service event for young children and another volunteer event planned to assist a local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Their hearts are as big as those basketballs they play with.”
