Physiciandepot.com Announce Study into Physician Salaries across the United States
Physician recruitment specialists Physiciandepot.com have announced the results of an in-depth study into physician salaries based on all specialties nationwide.
Herndon, VA, May 25, 2007 --(PR.com)-- With large variations in physician salaries based on geography and the sub-set in which a physician operates, Physician Depot have completed research into the area providing a report which outlines the amount of providers and the average salary for different physician jobs depending on the area of the country where the physician is based.
The report, which can be found at http://www.physiciandepot.com/Physician-Salaries.aspx provided clear evidence that Southern based physicians appear to experience higher salaries than their colleagues based in other areas of the United States. For example, under the category of "Cardiology: Invasive – Interventional" Southern physicians can expect a median salary of $430,515 compared with $252,393, $340,127 and $231,022 in the East, Midwest and West retrospectively. Despite that, the same rule did not apply exclusively across the board with Pulmonary Med (critical care) and Urology being the exceptions.
While Cardiology and Neurological surgery appear to be the professions which receive the highest rate of remuneration, all areas of surgery appear to be remunerated at a much higher rate than the average across the board. One surprising finding to come from the study is the difference in pay between those with or without an OB operating in a family practice. Although there are significantly more providers without an OB, as expected, in the South and West those without an OB are paid more, and those with an OB are paid more in the East and Midwest.
James Lauber of Physician Depot provides further insight into the survey:
"It was our intention to provide a breakdown of physician salaries to aid perspective employers and physicians that were looking for information, to give them a better understanding of the average salaries in both the area they are from, and the field in which they are interested in. We hope to have created a helpful resource that our users will find useful, and we have had nothing but positive feedback thus far. We thank those that helped in providing the raw data from which to compile the report and we hope to update it as more information becomes available and as the current information becomes outdated…it is interesting to see the correlation between the number of providers and the median salary, and there is also evidence to suggest that a physician's level of qualification does not universally result in higher remuneration."
