Techniques to Reduce Stress, Anxiety and Depression

Boca Raton, FL, June 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Yoga, meditation and breathing techniques have been in the news frequently discussing the benefits on one's physical and mental health including stories related to reduction of high blood pressure, insomnia help and elevation of moods. Recently, researchers at Boston School of Medicine announced their findings that yoga may elevate brain gamma-aminobutyric (GABA) levels and help reduce depression and anxiety symptoms.

Breathing techniques including abdominal breathing and alternative nostril breathing assist people in reducing racing thoughts, increasing oxygen to the cells and helping one to eliminate negative thought patterns.

Debbie Cohen, LCSW will be presenting an interactive, experiential worshop at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Florida on June 30th from 10-5. Participants will learn how to apply these techniques for self-care as well as for application with others. Six continuing ed contact hours will be given to social workers, mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists. The workshop is open to caregivers as well as anyone seeking to find effective techniques to reduce depression, anxiety and stress. You do not have to be flexible or experienced in yoga and meditation. Cost is $65.00. They will practice gentle yoga, meditation and breathing techniques that are helpful for elevating moods, reducing anxiety and increasing energy.
