Taiwan is Newest Destination for SpiceRoads Cycle Tours
Road bike 920 km from northern to southern Taiwan on new tour.

Though known for its crowded cities and electronic factories, Taiwan is also home to high mountain ranges, great beaches, stunning national parks and hot springs – which are the focus of the Taiwan Traverse by Road Bike tour.
This challenging ride of 920 kilometres meets in the north of the island of Taiwan at the capital Taipei and ends in the south at the port town of Kaohsiung. In 9 cycling days this scenic bicycle tour will take riders to Taiwan's highest road at 3,275 m, to the narrow Taroko Gorge, through the East Rift Valley, and down the coast of the Pacific Ocean to the southern most point of the island.
A rest day is spent at the Taroko Gorge with visits to the Siangde Temple and the Tunnel of Nine Turns trail, which is on the original road through the narrowest part of the gorge.
Spectacular winding roads that provide tough-but-rewarding climbs and exciting descents are the hallmarks of riding in Taiwan. The roads are surprisingly quiet on the less populated East Coast and are very well maintained.
A definite highlight of the tour is the plethora of hot springs on the island. For five nights riders will be able to end their cycling days with a muscle-relaxing visit to these piping hot waters.
With breathtaking scenery, challenging riding and plenty of off-bike experiences to enjoy as well, the stage is set for a uniquely rewarding cycling holiday in Taiwan.
The Taiwan Traverse by Road Bike tour cost is US$3,100 and will be fully supported by air conditioned vehicles, with water, sports drinks and snacks provided during the ride and each participant will receive a complimentary SpiceRoads bike jersey.
