Walmart to Clear Dozens of Clothing Racks for Yoga Mats in Denver
Walmart partners with Im’Unique to host free wellness workshop in Stapleton.
Denver, CO, October 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Im’Unique – Illustrating Union Yoga Tour, in partnership with Walmart - Stapleton, will host the first of its kind wellness workshop consisting of free yoga instruction and a healthy cooking class on Saturday, Oct. 20th at 12pm.
For the first time ever, Walmart will clear away up to 2,000 square feet of clothing racks to make room for yoga mats as the Denver community comes together to promote health, wellness and unity. 100+ class participants as well as 3,000+ observing shoppers are expected to be in attendance to learn simple ways to incorporate yoga and healthy eating into their lives. The purpose of this wellness workshop, which will be conducted in both Spanish and English, is to align Im’Unique’s and Walmart’s missions to create educational opportunities so people can live better and to make a positive impact within the communities they both serve.
While Walmart partners with hundreds of organizations such as Im’Unique, allowing this holistic health initiative to take over the store is a first. “I believe in what this organization is doing for the Denver community and I know this month’s workshop will help make my shoppers healthier and happier,” said Walmart General Manager, Tom Michaels.
Im’Unique is looking to do something truly revolutionary with this event, inviting surrounding business leaders to attend with their staff to show their commitment to unity and to the health of their employees. “With the continual rise in obesity, diabetes and heart disease within the communities that Walmart serves, it’s more important now than ever to get the message of holistic healthy living into their hands,” said Tyrone Beverly, Executive Director and Founder of Im’Unique, on the heels of the recent release of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s controversial obesity ads. “It is our responsibility as a community to support each other’s health and provide simple solutions to better lives. Which is why partnering with Walmart makes perfect sense as they strive to make sustainability and well-being a priority.”
