iLive Campaign Launches iLive HIV+ with Michelle Anderson, Ms. Plus America 2011
Every life is precious. The iLive Campaign stands behind that fact. Michelle Anderson, Ms. Plus America 2011, is first openly HIV positive woman to ever run for and win a national pageant title. She lends her story, time and talent to help women living with HIV through the iLive Campaign. Breaking the silence and seeking help is what iLive is all about.
Dallas, TX, October 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Every life is precious. The iLive Campaign believes that and stands by it. Michelle Anderson, Ms. Plus America 2011, is first openly HIV positive woman to ever run for and win a national pageant title. She currently resides in Dallas, Texas and is very active in her community as a consultant for the Afiya Center HIV Prevention and Sexual Reproductive Justice, Co-Chair of Campaign to End AIDS Texas, Member of the Ryan White Consumer Council, member of Positive Women Network (PWN), Treasurer/Board Member for ADAP Advocacy Association and former board member for AIDS Services of Dallas. Michelle has dedicated much of her personal life to educating others on HIV/AIDS throughout the greater Dallas area and across the United States. She plans to finish her degree in Social Work where she will be able to continue to spread the message, and educate people regarding HIV/AIDS. She also plans to use her title to raise awareness, end stigma as well as shame and blame associated with HIV infection among woman of color.
Michelle has Certificates of Completion in: NAPWA (National Association of People with HIV/AIDS) Common Threads, NMAC (National Minority AIDS Council) Treatment Adherence Peer Program Training, CHANGE (Center for Health and Gender Equity) Global Leadership Training, Leadership in Advocacy and Planning (LEAP) Strengthening Consumer Involvement and Leadership (SCILS) Project, Healthy Relationships CDC Training.
Some of the most empowering appearances Michelle had the privileged of experiencing was sitting in panel discussion hosted by The Dallas Health Department (Regional Forum on Black Women and HIV/AIDS in Texas) in Houston, Texas to discuss the disparities of African-American women around HIV/AIDS. She also was an opening speaker for 97.9 The Beat HIP HOP for HIV and Dallas Health Department on World AIDS Day where she shared her story about becoming infected in hopes to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and the importance of getting tested and was the keynote speaker for The Grace Project Women Summit where positive women from all over the country were in attendance.
She has done a number of appearances via video and radio such as HLN: What Matters, Syndicated radio show Michael Baisden, KHVN: Heaven 97, Public Service Announcements for ADAP Advocacy Association, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Re:Solve from Chronic Disease Fund, North Star Pro Blogtalk Radio, POZIAM Blogtalk Radio, Curvy-Girl, The Condom Ladies Fishbowl Networks, and Every Voice Radio and documentary filmed by Carla Davis of Richland College about HIV+ persons living out loud.
