Wright & McGurk Law Offering Free GranuFlo® Case Evaluation for Injured Dialysis Patients
Wright & McGurk Law is offering a free case evaluation for patients or their loved ones who have been injured by their dialysis treatment. A recent FDA recall could be behind these injuries.
Irvine, CA, October 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Wright & McGurk Law announced today that they are offering free GranuFlo® case evaluations for patients injured during their dialysis treatment. Following an FDA recall of both GranuFlo® and NaturaLyte®, injured dialysis patients have filed suit, alleging these concentrates are responsible for their injuries. Wright & McGurk is encouraging injured patients and their families to contact the firm today for help.
Over 400,000 Americans receive necessary and life saving dialysis treatment every day. An estimated 1/3 of these patients are also treated with GranuFlo® and NaturaLyte®. These solutions are popular acid concentrates manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care. During treatment, these are mixed with bicarbonates to treat acid build up in the blood. However, many doctors were unaware that both GranuFlo® and NaturaLyte® contained elevated bicarbonate levels. In patients with elevated bicarbonate levels, this mixture could produce heart attacks and even death due to an overdose of bicarbonates. The FDA has since issued a Class 1 recall of these dialysis products, their most serious recall.
Fresenius knew its products GranuFlo® and NaturaLyte® could produce harmful results. In 2010, researchers observed 947 heart attacks during dialysis treatment. In response, Fresenius issued an internal memo advising doctors in their network of the potential for dialysis injury including death. The manufacturer did not notify patients or caregivers outside of its network. Until this memo was leaked to the FDA, thousands of patients potentially did not receive the lifesaving warnings they needed.
