Local Navy SEAL Starts Adventure Racing Business
Special Operations Chief (SEAL) Brian J. Carney, a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, has spent the majority of his career in the SEAL Teams. Recently separated from active duty, he has returned home to western Massachusetts to launch his own business.
South Deerfield, MA, April 26, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Navy SEAL Adventure Racing's "Bone Frog Challenge," created by Navy SEALs, is an obstacle course mud run that challenges racers to measure up against the same obstacles that bred the world's most elite fighting force. The Bone Frog is the unofficial mascot of the current generation of Navy SEALs. It pays homage to early generation SEALs called "Frogmen" for being amphibious warriors. SEAL training, more commonly known as BUD/s (Basic Underwater Demolition School) in Coronado, CA is home to the military's toughest obstacle course. Known as the "O Course" this gauntlet has stood in front of every SEAL trainee defeating even the most physically fit. Now these same style obstacles will mentally and physically challenge competitors without having to go through BUD/s.
Carney knew he wanted to be a SEAL while in grade school entering the service after high school graduation. Assigned to East Coast based SEAL Teams for his career, he has been on multiple combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations worldwide. He says that his decision to enter civilian life, "has offered me an exciting opportunity to combine leadership training and motivational skills to inspire Bone Frog Challenge competitors to realize that adventure racing goals are extremely achievable."
Bone Frog Challenge kicks off their inaugural Western MA event September 14-15, 2013 at Berkshire East Ski Area in Charlemont, MA.
