Freehold NJ Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Alan Nasar Elected Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at CentraState Medical Center
Freehold, NJ, May 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Advanced Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institutes' Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Alan Nasar has been elected Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at CentraState Medical Center.
Dr. Nasar was elected by his peers to head the orthopedic department at one of New Jersey's premier hospitals; CentraState Medical Center. With his election, Dr. Nasar will apply the quality improvement principals that he has developed through his experience with the Joint Center to improving outcomes for the entire orthopedic department.

As Director of The Total Joint Center of New Jersey at CentraState, Dr. Nasar has been responsible for obtaining Joint Commission accreditation for hip and knee replacement surgery. He recently has initiated a quality improvement project, which focuses on rapid recovery and discharge, as well as minimizing postoperative pain. This project helps facilitate excellent patient outcomes.
Dr. Nasar stated, "Being recognized by my peers and entrusted with the department is a great honor. I enjoy working with my fellow doctors and hospital administrators to make the department stronger. Dr. Nasar is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the prestigious Cooper Union for the Advancement of Art and Science in New York City. He became interested in artificial joint design while receiving specialized training in biomechanics and biomaterials at Cooper Union. Dr. Nasar participated in an additional year of specialization in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At CentraState Medical Center, Dr. Nasar has been instrumental in developing and directing The Total Joint Center of New Jersey and he is currently its Chairman. After coming on staff at CentraState in 2006, Dr. Nasar became the orthopedic Medical Director at the Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center for CentraState Medical Center in Monmouth County, NJ in 2009.
Dr. Nasar is particularly interested in advanced pain management techniques that, combined with minimally invasive surgery, can lead to less discomfort and a more rapid return to work and leisure activities. Dr. Nasar's experience as a mechanical engineer gives him an intimate knowledge of the design and function of artificial joint prostheses allowing him to select the most appropriate device for each patient.
