Chicago Based Non Profit Organization Hosts Ground-Breaking Fitness Event, Including a Full Day of Fitness Demos, Informative Workshops, Celebrity Speakers and Health & Wellness Exhibitors. Presented at Columbia College Chicago and Made Possible by a Grant from Today’s Chicago Woman.
Chicago, IL, May 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- They may be a performance troupe for women with “curves", but the ThYck Troupe Organization is passionate about encouraging healthy living and regular exercise as a way of life. And, they aren’t just preaching it, they practice it. Their collective weight loss efforts certainly prove that point.
In an effort to engage Chicago area communities, the ThYck Troupe Organization, a 501c(3) performing arts company, has launched its “ThYck and Fit™” program, organizing exercise activities, wellness workshops, health screenings and advocating for the prevention of childhood obesity.
Tressa Thomas, Founder and Artistic Director of the ThYck Troupe Organization, states: “Our hope is that our Fitness FUSION Marathon and Wellness Expo will encourage people of all ages, sizes and ethnicities to make better choices regarding their health. As an organization, many of our company members have shed excess pounds over the past year. Now we're reaching out to surrounding communities to share our successes, and help others reach their own."
The expo, presented at Columbia College Chicago on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 8:30am to 4:00pm, will feature a diverse line-up of fitness demonstrations, informative workshops and health & wellness exhibitors. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Action For Healthy Kids®.

Workshop speakers and special guests include Chicago Bulls® Team Ambassador Sidney Green, celebrity fitness expert and best-selling author Andrea Metcalf, Shea Vaughn, founder of Sheanetics® and Chicago’s “Healthy Initiative” Program and Amour Genesis, host of the show “The Glamourous Life” and spokesmodel for the She's In Color campaign, a movement for women from all walks of life to embrace their individuality and purpose.

About Sidney Green
Green was the fifth pick in the 1983 NBA Draft, where he was chosen by the Chicago Bulls® to play power forward and played alongside basketball super star Michael Jordan. The Chicago Bulls® transitioned Green to Team Ambassador, after serving as a scout and Player Development Assistant for the Bulls’ Basketball Operations Department. Green now serves as a goodwill ambassador and represents the organization at various community functions, speaking engagements, school activities, non-profit and youth group appearances, as well as other select civic events.
