Oceanside, NY, August 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- With the summer coming to an end, flu season is quickly approaching. Oceanside Care Center makes it their goal to spread the news about August being National Immunization Month and emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) makes an estimate that of the 36,000 Americans who die each year from infection of the seasonal flu virus, 90 percent are age 65 and older. Shockingly, an estimated 225,000 people are hospitalized every year because of the seasonal flu are over the age of 65.
“Why skip your annual vaccinations when it can benefit and help you in many ways? It’s so much better to spend a moment getting vaccinated rather than risking being sick just because you chose to not be vaccinated”, said Kellie O’Connor, Admissions Director at Oceanside Care Center.
The Center for Disease Control also suggests that all adults over the age of 65 receive a pneumonia shot every year and that they also receive a Td booster shot every 10 years. In addition, it is of vital importance that shots are received on the correct schedule.
