South Nassau Communities Hospital's 5K Run/Walk & Multi-Cultural Health Fair is a Healthy Way to Start the Day
This year’s event is highlighted by a first ever US Coast Guard display and demonstration on boating safety as well as the return of live entertainment featuring a steel-drum band.
Oceanside, NY, September 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- It will be “One Healthy Way” to spend the day when South Nassau Communities Hospital holds its 22nd Annual “Communities for a Cure” Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk & Multi-Cultural Health Fair on Sunday, September 29 from 8:30 a.m. – 12 noon.
This year’s event is highlighted by a first ever US Coast Guard display and demonstration on boating safety as well as the return of live entertainment featuring a steel-drum band.
The Multi-cultural Health Fair will feature over 80 tables with displays from departments of the hospital and community agencies. Free health screenings for cardiac risk factors including cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI), and blood pressure will be offered, as well as screening for prostate cancer (PSA). There will also be an inter-active demonstration of the da Vinci® (robotic) Surgical System. Complimentary refreshments will be provided and tickets will be sold for a drawing for raffle prizes.
Starting time for the 5K run is 9:00 a.m., while a Children’s Fun Run will start at 8:30 a.m. There is no fee for parking or admission to the Health Fair. Proceeds from the run and raffles will benefit The Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center at South Nassau Communities Hospital. Day-of-race registration is $25.00 for the 5K and $15.00 for the Fun Run.
