Anytime Fitness' "Turkeys for Training" Fundraiser Scheduled for November 20
Anytime Fitness offers personal training session in exchange for helping the hungry. Donated turkeys and grocery store gift cards will be accepted Nov. 20, and donated to Care & Share, a local nonprofit that provides services for those in need. Help those who are hungry during the holidays and get fit too.
East Lyme, CT, November 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A frozen turkey or grocery store gift card is your ticket to a free 30- minute personal training session at Anytime Fitness. Donations will benefit Care & Share of East Lyme, supporting residents of East Lyme and Salem in need of holiday food assistance. Participants do not need to be members of Anytime Fitness.
Turkeys for Training started in 2011 when the owner of Anytime Fitness, Lynnea Mahlke, approached Care & Share with the idea.
“A number of our members volunteered at Care & Share and Turkeys for Training seemed like a great way for a local fitness center to give back to the community while also supporting people to stay healthy during the holiday season,” said Mahlke, a resident of East Lyme. This year the club hopes to collect more than 24 turkeys before Thanksgiving.”
“We appreciate all of the assistance we can get in raising the necessary flock of turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets,” said Jim Hall, former president of Care & Share of East Lyme. In 2012, Care & Share provided financial assistance to clients, and made 501 food deliveries feeding 1,552 people. In the current economic environment, community needs are growing rapidly and the numbers are expected to increase in 2013.
Donations can be dropped off at the club on Wednesday, November 20th between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., and schedule free training sessions by December 31, 2013. If necessary, gift cards can be brought to the club before the 20th, but frozen turkeys will only be accepted Wednesday. Anytime Fitness is located at 17 Liberty Way, Niantic. Call (860) 691-1611 for more information.
