Nilanjan Sengupta Announces a New Innovative IOS App to Help Users Stay Healthy
Indie developer, Nilanjan Sengupta has developed an innovative iOS App that helps users meet their daily calorie goals by managing their craving and by enabling them to make healthy food choices. This App also helps users engage in a social experience with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram
Ashburn, VA, December 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cravings is an innovative iOS App that serves as a personal health companion to users who desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Unlike other calorie tracking apps where users need to constantly count calories and worry about exceeding their calorie goals, Cravings makes it easier for users by making meaningful suggestions for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks based on users’ food list that ensures that they remain within their calorie budget.
Cravings has built in smarts to adapt itself to user’s food habit and generate insightful statistics on their best and worst food cravings, their calorie allocations towards breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks on days they have successfully met their calorie goals and on days that they have not. Based on these insights users can fine-tune this App to provide better food choices which ensures that they continue to succeed in meeting their daily calorie goals.
The App now hosts an embedded food database based on United States Department of Agriculture’s Nutrition database, which contains around 10,000 foods. The App also provides the ability to perform an integrated Web search on foods which extends this database to potentially any types and kinds of food and in any language. All of this is meant to enable users to quickly and accurately set up this App for their own personal use.
Users can share their success with Facebook and Twitter, pin their Cravings with Pinterest and share their picture via Instagram all from right within this App.
Users typically start using this App by entering their food list and related calorie content. They tap into the in-built USDA nutrition database or do a web search to rapidly update the App with their food choices. Foods are categorized as breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and marked as Cravings if they apply.
The App provides the facility to calculate BMI and ideal calorie intake based on user’s age, weight, gender, height and their physical activity. They can also allocate percent of their daily calories towards breakfast, lunch and dinner. If they are unsure of this allocation, the App analyzes their food habits and suggests the best allocations for them. The Settings screen also use spinning wheels to make data entry fun and easy. Spin the wheels on the left to select input type and the ones on the right to set the corresponding values.
The main screen presents options to enter Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks. Users simply choose whether they are entering Breakfast or lunch etc. on the selection control and the food list spinner wheel dynamically change to present only the Breakfast items or lunch items or dinner items, so on and so forth. The Progress Bar on the top provides constant feedback on how much calories users have consumed compared to their daily calorie goals.
Now to the fun part, if users switch on the suggestions light bulb the App will only list those food items that are ok for them to eat in order to stay within daily goals. E.g. if anyone is wondering what to eat for dinner and still meet their daily goals, then they simply turn on the switch and only those dinner items will be listed which fits the criteria.
Users can also plan their day in advance - If they know that they are going to have a heavy meal during Lunch or Dinner, they can plan their day around it. For example, someone may have a cocktail reception where they will have 3-4 glasses of wine, exotic desserts, snacks etc. They can prepare for it by entering them in the morning and then the App will suggest what their choices are for Breakfast and lunch that ensures them to stay within the daily calorie budget.
This App does not penalize users if they don’t track a day. However, they are incented to track because the more they track the better the App gets in suggesting the most ideal choices for their important meals and also as the reviewers suggests, it is ridiculously easy to track daily calories.
Eliminating the wrong cravings and enjoying the right ones.
When Cravings hit, turn to this app for instant feedback on what it means for personal health and fitness. Users can easily find out what it means to eat a cheesecake or an ice cream after lunch or that extra glass of wine in the afternoon. It lets them find out what choices they then have for dinner or may suggest an alternate craving that will help them meet their daily calorie goals.
Adopting Cravings is a small step towards understanding someone’s food habits and a giant step towards a healthier and delectable life.
