Utah’s Leading Safety Expert Teaches Cottonwood Heights School Kids About Anti Bullying
Safety expert Brett Lechtenberg teaches anti-bullying techniques to more than 500 kids in Cottonwood Heights and Sandy, UT.
Sandy, UT, March 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Last month, Utah’s Leading Family Safety Expert, Brett Lechtenberg, went to a local elementary school in Cottonwood Heights, Utah to talk about a big problem facing children in schools – bullying. His free workshop at Butler Elementary included a 1 hour interactive presentation to teach the children empowering techniques to avoid conflict with confidence.
When asked why he was so happy to teach this free Anti Bullying workshop Brett said, “Bullying is, unfortunately, a big problem in schools. I had experiences being bullied as a child and my goal is to help educate parents and children about bullying so that we can help the children in our community avoid conflicts and build their confidence.” Brett works with school children in the community every day to help them learn confidence, anti bullying techniques, goal setting for good grades, safety skills, and more.
This empowering anti bullying workshop taught kids about the different kinds of bullying and different ways that bullies pick their targets – but beyond just educating kids about what bullying is and why it happens Brett also went over the 5 things that every kid can do to prevent bullying from happening. He covered where the different “bully safe” zones in schools are and he taught the children how to walk away from bullies with confidence and avoid conflict.
The parent organizing the anti-bullying and anti-drugs campaign on behalf of Butler Elementary’s Parent Teacher Association, Michael Albrecht, said, “We wanted to do something different this year. Something that does not only tell the children about problems, but actually gives them practical tools they can apply in their daily life. Mr. Lechtenberg delivered! Within 2 minutes he had the attention of 500 children and they all followed his instructions. We had only positive feedback from the children who continued to approach me about the assembly even weeks later.”
Brett’s karate program at Personal Mastery Martial Arts in Sandy helps children learn how to become confident leaders in school and in life. On top of working with local children through his karate classes, Brett regularly provides free workshops and safety programs to local schools and also teaches adult self defense classes. Brett is working on publishing an anti bullying guide for parents and children to help even more people overcome the problem of bullying in their communities – this guide to anti bullying will cover topics like bullying statistics and cyber bullying, on top of giving a definition of bullying and going over bullying facts and bullying stories.
