Hidrate Introduces Line of Connected Water Bottles With Launch of Kickstarter Campaign
The Hidrate Me smart water bottle tracks users’ water intake and gives off an ambient glow to remind users if they have forgotten to rehydrate.
Minneapolis, MN, June 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Hidrate, the team behind the Hidrate Me smart water bottle, announces the launch of its 43-day Kickstarter campaign, officially going live on June 1, 2015. Hidrate Me is a smart water bottle that syncs with a corresponding mobile app available for iOS and Android devices. Hidrate Me helps consumers keep track of water intake and improve hydration habits. Embedded with LED lights, the bottle gives off an ambient glow as a reminder to drink more water.
Hidrate creates a daily hydration goal unique to the user and utilizes that to track water intake. The app takes multiple aspects into account when creating the hydration equation, including gender, age, weight, height and activity level. Users can connect Hidrate to other fitness trackers such as Fitbit or Jawbone. Hidrate also factors in exterior elements, such as temperature, humidity and elevation.
Hidrate Me, made from a BPA-free plastic, automatically tracks water intake and sends reminders both on the bottle itself and through the Hidrate app. The 24-ounce, dishwasher-safe bottles have a battery life of over a year with no charging needed.
Founded by University of Minnesota students, Hidrate was built out of passion and necessity. CEO Nadya Nguyen pulled together a team for Startup Weekend powered by Google for Entrepreneurs in Minneapolis to build the first working prototype, after coming up with the idea while feeling dehydrated from a long day of volunteering. After finishing in third place in the competition and receiving the confirmation that their product could actually improve people’s daily lives, the team decided to move forward with the official launch.
“Drinking water is one of the best things we can do for our health,” said Nguyen. “With daily distractions and the quick pace of everyday life, millions of people simply forget. Hidrate can help with that. We had to make a product that was easy to integrate into everyone’s already busy schedule, and came up with something that can track water intake, improve hydration habits and make sure you’re feeling your very best every day.”
The Kickstarter campaign officially launches on June 1, 2015 and will run through July 13, 2015. Backers will have the opportunity to pledge for a Hidrate Me water bottle in five different colors for $39 via the Kickstarter campaign or via preorder on Hidrate’s website. Funds raised via Kickstarter will be directly used to make the first production order, partially funding tooling cost and unit cost of each bottle. Hidrate will move into production immediately after the campaign closes, and both backer pledges and preorders expect to be filled in winter 2015/early 2016.
