b. (Optional): Place a hole cup (if any) on the green/carpet/synthetic turf where desired.
c. Choose a challenging “Starting Point” at least 10 paces from the hole which is either: 1) On the green/carpet/synthetic turf/putting green; or 2) Off of the putting green and no more than 20 paces from the closest edge of the green.
d. (Optional): Mark a shared Starting Point if you are first to play.
e. Stand in the approximate position you would strike a ball towards the hole from the Starting Point and line up each of your three balls within one club length of, but not nearer the hole than the Starting Point, approximately club head length apart if putting, or approximately one foot (30 centimeters) apart otherwise, and in the following order: The "1-4" ball is closest to you, the "2-5" ball is in the middle, and the "3-6" ball is furthest from you as follows:
You 1-4 2-5 3-6
Shortgolf First Attempt:
a. Strike with your club of choice each ball towards the hole in the following order: The "1-4" ball first, then the "2-5" ball, and finally the "3-6" ball.
b. Stop immediately if a ball is holed, your hole score is the first number on that ball, collect your balls/clubs, and any next player may start.
Shortgolf Second Attempt:
a. If any ball might interfere with your play of another ball, then either strike the ball that is closer to the hole first or mark a ball.
b. Strike each ball in any order you want with the goal of holing it.
c. Your hole score is the lowest second number on any balls in the hole, or "8" if no ball was holed.
d. Collect your balls/club(s) and any next player in your group may start.
Continuing Play: Move on to the next hole (if any). A new hole may be created by moving the Starting Point and/or hole cup location(s).
