Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation to Hold 4th Annual Fallen Heroes 5K Run/Walk on Armed Services Day
In honor of the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, and to pay tribute to those now serving, the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation will hold its annual Fallen Heroes Run/Walk on May 14, Armed Services Day. All proceeds from the event benefit military families directly.
Las Vegas, NV, April 25, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation is proud to announce it’s 4th Annual Fallen Heroes 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run to be held on Armed Forces Day: Saturday, May 14, 2016. This event memorializes the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and honors those now serving.
The event will take place at Bruce Trent Park on Rampart at Vegas Drive in Summerlin. The courses circle around the park and are decorated with the combat boots and photos of fallen service members.
7am-8am: Check In
8am: Honor Guard Presentation by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Local 1285
8:15am: Opening Ceremony with remarks from Judge Martin Hastings
8:30am: 5K Run/Walk begins (No scooters, bikes or pets during 5K)
8:35am: 1 Mile Fun run begins (Kids & strollers welcome)
“All net proceeds from this event directly benefit military families. Last year we were able to raise about $5000, we hope to top that this year with the help of generous donors, participants, and sponsors. Entry Fee is $30 for Adults, $20 for Veterans & $15 for Children/Students/Active Duty Military. Registration includes Race Bib, T-Shirt, gift bag and post-race refreshments.

About The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation
U.S. Army SPC Douglas J. Green was killed in action on August 28, 2011 at the age of 23 while serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor, posthumously, the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge. SPC Green was a Las Vegas resident between tours and his name is inscribed on the fallen hero monument at Red Rock Canyon.
The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing care packages to service members during their deployment. DJGMF offers programs for veterans, parents, spouses and family members affected by PTSD and bereavement programs for our Gold Star Families. The DJGMF was founded by Suni Chabrow, mother of SPC Green. Suni is a Summerlin resident and member of Temple Sinai Las Vegas.
