A New Year’s Resolution in Action; the Parkland YMCA Family Center’s Programs and Services

Responding to what the YMCA of the USA has identified as a lifestyle crisis facing children, youth, individuals and families, president and CEO Neil Nicholl disclosed a New Year’s resolution to “support Americans in establishing better and lasting habits around their health.” The Parkland YMCA Family Center is in a unique position to lead the way to fulfilling this very progressive and ambitious New Year resolution.

Parkland, FL, February 14, 2008 --(PR.com)-- As 2007 drew to a close, Neil Nicholl, president and CEO of the YMCA of the USA disclosed a comprehensive plan to improve the health and well being of Americans. He outlined a New Year’s resolution to “support Americans in establishing better and lasting habits around their health.” His aggressive stance toward addressing what is seen by the YMCA as a lifestyle crisis facing children, youth, individuals and families has already impacted the programs being offered in 2008 at local YMCA organizations nationwide.

“In designing the programs we offer at the Parkland YMCA Family Center, we have taken particular care to focus on the three areas of emphasis in the strategic plan developed nationally in response to current health challenges” explains Greg Smith, the Executive Director of the Parkland YMCA. “That is, the holistic development of teens and youth, the strengthening of family bonds, and the promotion of good health and wellbeing for all. In our own way, through this wonderful opportunity we have to listen to the Parkland community’s social needs, we will adapt our efforts as necessary. We are confident that we are leading the way to fulfilling this progressive and very ambitious New Year’s resolution.”
