The Parkland YMCA Family Center Wellness Director Thanks New Members from the Local Community for the Warmth of Their Welcome

Parkland, FL, February 27, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Wellness Director, Debra Dechiaro, is loving every minute of establishing the daily and weekly operations of the latest addition to the YMCA of Broward County; the Parkland YMCA Family Center.

Debra defines her role at the Parkland YMCA as being the leader responsible for the overall well-being of the members, managing the YMCA wellness programs for fitness, healthy exercise and nutritional guidance. Her overall objective is to support the healthy lifestyle choices of Parkland YMCA Family Center members.

Debra leads the certified, caring and committed team of Group Exercise Instructors, Personal Trainers and Wellness Center Floor staff at the Parkland Y. Debra is an active participating member of the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America (AFAA), with certifications in Group Exercise, Hatha Vinyasa Yoga and Mat & Reformer Pilates, Aqua Aerobics, specialist training in the SilverSneakers® Fitness program for older active adults and Indoor Cycling certification. She enthuses about her particular love of the flexibility and strength enhancing mind-body exercises. “I am absolutely passionate about Yoga and Pilates and the benefits these bring to the lives of many. Yoga has made me a better person, more balanced, less stressed,” she explains. “I want to share that wonderful experience with members of all ages through the Wellness programs we offer here in Parkland.” She places a weight of importance on the role of the Center in offering basic instruction to parents that means healthy eating habits are instilled in the next generation, including instructional courses in preparing simple basic recipes to provide healthy meals for their kids.

Fresh from her year with the East Broward YMCA BankAtlantic Corporate Wellness program, Debra relishes the challenge that the start up of the new Parkland YMCA Center’s activities inevitably means. “It was such a great opportunity for personal growth too. Now that the planned range of Wellness Center programs are up and running I want to start thinking about how we can enhance some of the Monthly Workshops and special health related seminars. I’m here to listen to the new members from the Parkland community.” she explains. “The majority of the family members are busy Moms and Dads in their 30s and 40s with 3 to 5 children of all age groups. They all have one thing in common, the concern that they must be very involved, very active in the development of their children’s lives.” Debra shares her best moments of the recent Grand Opening Celebration. “I was amazed, over and over again, by the warmth of our welcome by local families. Without a doubt, we were welcomed by the entire family, all wanting to share the YMCA experience.”
