Rockville Smiles Announces Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program
Roseville California Candy Buy Back program hosted by Rockville Smiles Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics. Rockville Smiles will give Roseville area children $1 per pound of candy when they bring it into the Rockville Smiles practice between Nov. 1-7.
Roseville, CA, October 15, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Rockville Smiles is once again holding its annual Halloween candy buy-back program, November 1 – 7, 2018. This is the third year that Rockville Smiles has offered the program which is designed to accomplish two goals. First, the program entices young patients to donate candy that might be harmful to their orthodontics and secondly it encourages children to give back by donating their candy to the men and women serving our country overseas.
“Offering the buy-back program serves a couple of purposes for us,” said orthodontist Dr. Marina Milstein. “It removes the temptation for patients to eat sticky, chewy candy that can damage their braces, and it gives us a chance to show our soldiers that we acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices they make to keep us free and safe.”
“Parents know that daily brushing and flossing, combined with twice-a-year visits to the dentist, will help limit the onset of cavities. Limiting excess sweets can also go a long way to preventing tooth decay as well as establishing good dietary habits. In addition, too much candy can lead to hyperactivity and weight gain. Some types of candy can also result in broken or chipped teeth,” added pediatric dentist Dr. Dmitry Pivnik.
The program is simple. Any trick-or-treater or patient can come into our practice at 721 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville from November 1-7, 2018. Our staff will weigh the child’s candy and give each child $1 for every pound of candy they bring in. We also invite local schools to join the fun. For every pound of candy they collect, we will donate $2 per pound back to the school.
Rockville Smiles has partnered with nonprofit Move America forward to process all the candy, pack and ship it to our troops. Last year, the program generated over 2200 lbs of candy for our troops and Junction Elementary School was the winning school with 650 lbs of candy. Rockville Smile awarded over $2000.00 to Roseville area schools through the Candy Buy Back Program.
“Giving back to our community is what we are about,” said Michele Eastwood, practice manager. “We work closely with schools in the area to provide dental health education, we screen young children at community health fairs and centers and we’ve even participated in Rocklin High School’s career day highlighting careers in the dental field. Being a part of the Candy Buy Back program is another fun way to give back to our community and working with Move America Forward to donate the candy is so rewarding.”
