GoalFriends Launches at Wake Tech Community College Scott Northern Wake Campus for Student Veterans and Family Members

Raleigh, NC, January 22, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The first GoalFriends group formed specifically for student veterans and their family members kicked off this month at the Scott Northern Wake Campus, Wake Technical Community College. It is also the first GoalFriends group meeting in the country at a community college. The plan is to start a second group at the Southern Wake Campus in the next academic year. Student veteran Cathryn D. Williams who attended the first meeting says, “GoalFriends is a hit.”

According to Marilyn Terrill, Dean of Veterans Programs and Innovations, the mission of Wake Tech’s Military and Veteran Programs Division is “to support and enhance the educational experience of our student veterans and eligible family members by assisting with the transition into higher education to achieve their career goals. We are committed to providing our veterans with the highest quality of academic support services by assisting with education benefits, facilitating the transition into college life, and providing support for their ongoing academic success.”

Terrill shares, “We have been looking for a way to connect our female student veterans and family members and help them on their paths to success. GoalFriends seems to be a perfect fit! Veterans Programs and Innovations and Student Activities worked together to organize the first GoalFriends group launch.”

GoalFriends is a global personal development program that is designed for women who want more out of their lives. Through the use of a step-by-step, goal-setting workbook, groups of like-minded women meet monthly to gain clarity on what they want their life to look like. Each self-facilitated group of between 6-12 women serves as a mini-mastermind or personal "think tank"​ for new ideas and opportunities. Women share their brilliance by inspiring and mentoring each other through the program. GoalFriends encourages women to connect authentically in an open, safe environment.
