First-of-Its-Kind Yoga Studio Concept Opens in Massachusetts
Earth & Aerial Yoga becomes the first independent aerial yoga studio to open inside a coworking space.
Hudson, MA, May 16, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Earth & Aerial Yoga will become the first independent aerial yoga studio to open inside a coworking space, when it launches this week at Out of Office Coworking in Hudson, MA. The studio will host an open house on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 5 PM to 7 PM and will begin offering regular classes on May 20, 2019.
Earth & Aerial Yoga has leased about 1,000 square feet in a bright, window-lined corner inside Out of Office, which overlooks the picturesque Assabet River Rail Trail and downtown Hudson. The studio will offer both aerial and traditional yoga classes to coworking members and the general public. Aerial yoga allows students to use fabric hammocks to practice regular yoga poses, as well as suspend, balance and invert safely in ways that may be difficult to do on the ground and without assistance.
Owners, Katharine Scalora, RYT-200, and Lora Markova, E-RYT-200, who together have more than a decade of teaching experience, say their aerial yoga studio concept is the first of its kind to open anywhere in the world.
“There are yoga studios inside coworking spaces and coworking spaces inside yoga and wellness centers, but there isn’t a single fully-functional independent aerial yoga studio located inside a coworking space that we could find,” said Markova. “This is a new territory in the yoga studio space, and we are excited to be the trailblazers.”
Scalora and Markova, who met in September 2018 during an aerial yoga teacher training led by Scalora, inked their partnership less than three months ago and immediately began to seek out a space that would accommodate their requirements - high ceilings, lots of light and steady foot traffic. The Landing at Hudson Mills, the building where Out of Office is located, seemed like a good option, so the partners met the building owner, Joe Freeman, inside the bright, modern coworking space to start their tour.
“We talked about how nice it would be to find a space with a similar feel for our studio,” said Scalora. “Then Joe said, ‘why not just do it right here?’ and things just clicked. A yoga studio is a community space that offers members an opportunity to practice together and bond over their shared experiences. What better place to cultivate that kind of community than a space that was built specifically for that reason in the first place?”
Out of Office owner, Richard Banfield, saw the opening of an aerial yoga studio inside his space as an opportunity to offer more unique services to his members and drive additional foot traffic through his business.
“It’s a real win-win situation,” said Banfield, who launched the 14,000-square-foot coworking space at the end of last year. “We are getting a lot of traction with our members and a wide variety of events that bring traffic into our space, all of which gives great exposure to Earth & Aerial Yoga. On the flipside, the studio will be bringing a lot of new people into Out of Office, who might have never otherwise known about our space and offerings.”
“This unique yoga studio concept bodes extremely well for our vision for The Landing,” said Freeman. “We want this building to be the place to be, not just in Hudson, but also in the region. The best way for us to achieve this goal is to bring in cutting-edge businesses here, so the arrival of Earth & Aerial Yoga inside Out of Office Coworking makes me feel extremely excited for the future.”
