"How to Kill Your Husband's Ex, Attorneys and Then Some," Newly Released Book Shows Stepmoms How to Manage a Problematic Ex, Stepkids and Unscrupulous Lawyers
New book helps stepmoms involved in high conflict family relationships to take charge to save their sanity, marriage and money.
Yorba Linda, CA, August 11, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Kathy Hammond’s newest book, "How to Kill Your Husband’s Ex, Attorneys and Then Some: A** Kickin’ Advice for Stepmoms" (available now in paperback on Amazon; Kindle, August 23), isn’t your mother’s play nice playbook for managing a contentious or conniving ex, corrupt lawyers or ill-meaning in-laws. Hammond dishes advice on everything from scrutinizing husband’s court orders and attorney’s invoices to disciplining stepkids (don’t!) to in-laws and inheritance. Forged from 27 years as a stepmom to two, now, young men, Hammond’s no holds barred book also illustrates how the family law system robs families of billions (yes, with a “B”) of dollars when ex's engage in conflict and what a stepmom can do to help arrest the carnage.
“When I first married, I didn’t give any of (what is in my book) much thought,” said Hammond. “I thought the only things we’d deal with were visitation and child support. How complicated was that? What I wasn’t prepared for was how attorneys prolonged any conflict between my husband and his ex-wife, even if just a blip, with the attorneys cashing in on that conflict. Had I known what I know now, all of us would have been better off. Not to mention, richer.” She estimates she and her husband have spent more than $70,000 in legal fees to resolve her husband’s mostly routine post-divorce issues.
While Hammond’s book addresses what stepmoms can do to guide their husbands through legal matters she also offers shrewd strategies to keep an antagonistic ex in check and when all else fails, provides some pretty crafty ways to hamper an ex from wreaking further chaos. It’s why she hopes exs won’t find her book. “Too many tricks they can pick-up,” she says.
Though there are dozens of books for stepmoms on how to blend a family, Hammond asserts that her book delves into the darker and often more real side of post-divorce antics the majority of books don’t touch. As many stepmoms live in a constant state of conflict and dysfunction at the hands of unruly stepkids, a difficult ex, unsupportive in-laws and crushing legal fees, with nowhere to go for help. Hammond said her book may be just what stepmoms need to reclaim their lives.
Few, if any, women dream of becoming a stepmom. Fewer still want strife with someone’s ex, stepkids, lawyers and in-laws. Unfortunately, it often comes with the stepmom territory. But if it does, stepmoms now have the ultimate playbook.
