The Gateway Family YMCA Celebrates Women’s Health & Fitness Day
YMCA Part of National Event to Promote Healthy Lifestyles for Women.
Elizabeth, NJ, September 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA and Shaping Eastern Union County will join local groups across the country to celebrate the 18th Annual National Women’s Health & Fitness Day on September 25th, 2019. As an official host site, The Gateway Family YMCA will provide health and fitness information to local women, provide complimentary guest passes and trial classes. On this day, The Gateway Family YMCA will join with an estimated 500 organizations and 50,000 to 70,000 women of all ages across the country to help promote active, healthy lifestyles through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care. The Union County Freeholder Board is a proud sponsor of this event through the County’s Human Services Department.
“The Freeholder Board is pleased to be joining with the YMCA in promoting women’s health and fitness and building toward a healthier, more prosperous future for all of Union County’s women,” said Freeholder Chair, Bette Jane Kowalski. “Events throughout this day are aimed at empowering women in making decisions that will enable them to live healthy lives.”
In honor of National Women’s Health & Fitness day, community members are invited to visit the YMCA for a free guest pass on September 25th at the Elizabeth Branch- 135 Madison Avenue, Elizabeth, Five Points Branch – 201 Tucker Avenue, Union, Rahway Branch – 1564 Irving Street, Rahway or Wellness Center Branch -–1000 Galloping Hill Road, Union. Tours are available by appointment at the WISE Center YMCA Branch – 2095B Berwyn Street, Union, Youth Development Branch – 16-20 Jefferson Avenue, Elizabeth and Dudley House Veterans Transitional Housing Program – 930 Putnam Avenue, Plainfield.

National Women’s Health & Fitness Day is held on the last Wednesday in September. The event displays the many women's health resources available through local organizations hosting events on that day. The program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center and it is meant to encourage women to take control of their health: to learn the facts they need to make smart health choices, and to make time for regular physical activity.
