Rocket City Adventure Race to Raise Money for Girls on the Run of North Alabama

The Rocket City Adventure Race is Downtown Huntsville’s first adventure event and is coming back for a third year on November 3rd. Partners team up to take on 18 activity stations challenging not only physical pursuits but also mental puzzles. Best of all, this event is free and family friendly. The race also serves as a fundraiser for Girls on the Run of North Alabama, a mentoring program for girls 3rd-8th grade.

Huntsville, AL, October 24, 2019 --(PR.com)-- The Rocket City Adventure race will take place, Sunday, November 3, 2019 starting at 2pm on the North side of Big Spring Park and follows a 2.5 mile course of activity stations through the downtown area and Big Spring Park. Stations will offer activities such as traditional field day events, exercise stations, brainteasers and much more.

"We want to put on a race downtown that keeps with the current vibe that Downtown Huntsville Inc. has going. Something different, fun, and brings people together. This race is for men, women, and children of all fitness levels. It was important to us to provide a course that families could do together. Our hope is that this will inspire families to do more physical activities together and become closer knit, healthier families,” explains Race Director Joe Martin, also owner of local fitness business, Huntsville Adventure Boot Camp.

Girls on the Run of North Alabama is the new local council of Girls on the Run Inc. which is a 501c3 nonprofit organization offering physical-activity based positive youth development programs after school. Lessons focus on helping young girls develop their own unique skills and style on topics like caring, character, confidence, competence and connection leading to contributions in their community. Aspects of physical development are linked to exercise, making healthy choices and running activities.

“If you are comfortable to walk the distance, you can do it! The race isn’t timed so everyone that completes the race is a winner!” says Chawn Wade, Girls on the Run of North Alabama Community Outreach Coordinator. “Girls on the Run is so excited to be co-hosting this one-of-a-kind event as a part of our launch season in North Alabama. The race is free but generous donations are greatly appreciated to assist us in growing this inspirational youth development program to reach as many young girls as we possibly can.”

Registration is free and open to all ages. Donations can be made online during registration and at the race.
